John Henry | Symphony in Red

Large-scale steel sculptures like this one are characteristic of the work of sculptor John Henry (born 1943 in Lexington, USA). He selected “Symphony in Red” for the central island of Königsworther Platz, a major transportation hub in Hanover. Five multi-lane roads intersect here; the location is almost always noisy, dynamic, and multifaceted. Arranged as if in a game of Mikado, the layered steel rods reflect the complexity of the location and stand up to it—the sculpture becomes a landmark, a point of reference.
